Only those who have spent years mastering their craft can successfully weave the minimal with the complex, and that’s exactly what Faggot Front accomplishes with the engrossingly textured “Eyes like Roadkill.”

Layers of low resonance generate an unsettling milieu of tension and dread that many attempt to build using high pitched dissonance. In this case the effect is so insidious it’s impossible to pinpoint the origin of the discomfort. It’s as if an invisible thread connecting limbic system to frequency is being playfully tugged.

Greater impact is achieved by constructing a deranged energy which is more calculated than manic. One senses the unhealthy intent even if unaware of its purpose, like having a menacing conversation with someone speaking a different language. Reaching through the murk for something solid to hold onto confirms the fear that something you might not like is reaching back. Only with the end-of-track silence can you let out the breath you didn’t realize you were holding.
