LAPSED BAPTIST / WILLOWBROOK
A: Texturally rich post-evangelical HNW
B: Frenetic, blown out harsh noise and walls
I rarely speak with a personal voice when describing new tapes, but this split is particularly special to me. Earlier this year I was part of a major noise event in Eugene, and Lapsed Baptist (a.k.a. Daniel Schultz, sole member of the ever-impressive Troubled by Insects) was booked to perform live for the first time as LAPSED BAPTIST. It was a stunning and harrowing HNW exhibit, one of the best I've had the pleasure of seeing.
We briefly discussed a Lapsed Baptist / Willowbrook split, and over the next six or so months it began to come together. At nearly 26 minutes per side, and representing the best contemporary material from either project, the tape includes found photo slides, high quality j-card, and typeset tape labels. Limited edition of 25, 12 of which are become available today.
Tapes duplicated in house at GRHQ.
